'DAILY FAVORITES'

We all have different views when it comes to photography.
For instance, you may see two types of woodpeckers in the first shot...a Downy and a Pileated.
However, I see two black and white
birds with red heads. I was particularly inspired to name this young Pileated Woodpecker,
'Matchstick' with it's fluffy tufted crest.
And these two (Tufted Titmouse) leave nothing to be said but, CUTE!

Take the time to really look at your photos with an open imagination.

  1. Love the titmouse shot. They are just plain cute!

I'm surprised the pileated is willing to share tree/feeding space with the downy. Most of the time here along the riverbank, the pileateds run everyone else off. In fact, I just ran a photo and piece a couple of posts back on a pileated doing just that to a red-bellied.

    Anyway, enjoyed you post.

  2. WOW! What a shot you got there! I am assuming that the Pileated probably didn't even SEE the little tiny Downy on the other side..lol! I love the Titmice too. They are just the most cheerful little things. ;c)

    Some day....it will come.
Your idea is a good one but sometimes I take it too far and make them talk.

  4. Hello folks!
Grizzled-But-Still-Incorrigible-Scribe-Himself...Thank you for the comments! The pileated is a young one of two that frequently visit. Possibly that's the reason it shares not only with the Downy but with Bluejays, the Nuthatch and the Chickadee. I must check out our post on the Pileated!
Jayne...hello my friend and thanks for dropping by!!

  6. Greetings! Glad to see you're back in the blogging world. I really love the pictures you posted today, especially of the woodpeckers. I don't think people get how big pileated woodpeckers really are! And the titmice are so cute, too! I wish we had them flying around here.
